Backup multiple servers in one job to one tape. Backup exec 2012
“The functionality within backup exec 2012 for creating backup jobs for more than one server has disappeared. ...”
The functionality within backup exec 2012 for creating backup jobs for more than one server has disappeared. Before in backup exec 2010 you could backup two servers in one job to one tape. Now the software creates a job for each server and you have to set it to append to the tape as to be careful not to erase the first server you have just backed up. Which means before you could have 20 servers in 10 jobs. Now you need 20 jobs for the 20 servers · I would like to see the faculty ...

Status: On Roadmap
Hello,       I know there have been a number of requests on the Ideas forum about Storage Lifecycle Policies. We just wanted to say "Thank You!" and that we are listening to them and activitly incorporating the suggestions as we can.   One of the most frequently asked for requests is being able to schedule Storage Lifecycle Policies and when the duplication will occur.   We are building this feature now.   It will allow you to have a duplication ...

As Exchange 2013 is now out, there are already customers planning their implementation schedule for it. If they are using Backup Exec for backing up their current Exchange infrastructure, they probably want to continue using the same product for the new Exchange version. There is currently no public availability information of Backup Exec Exchange 2013 support, which is limiting customer planning and scheduling.

When selecting the storage device to perform a restore from, if a tape will be the source for the restore the drive in which the job was written in is displayed rather than the label of the tape (screen after the initial restore selections). When you get to the final screen to review the restore options the name of the tapes from which the restore will use are then displayed. To aid in selecting the correct tape, such as one that might be on-site or already in the machine, it would be useful ...

Idea: Move telephone support from India to the United States where we can understand the tech support person on the other end of the phone.  I get very frustrated when dealing with Symantec on the phone because they cannot understand the English language enough to understand my problem.  Then they usually send you some KB article that has nothing to do with your problem because they didn't understand it correctly the first time.  Then when you go back to them, they tell ...

Auto-regenerating temp license for appliances

We have a scenario where we have purchased several 5220 appliances that have the temp license from the factory image pre-loaded on them. When we factory reset them to be able to re-deploy them in a new environment, the temp license which is set to expire in March 2013 has already expired, which prevents the completion of the setup wizard. Perhaps there could be a feature that adds an arbitrary number of days to the temp license during a refresh? Like 5 days? This would allow for completion ...

Hi ; We have purchased Backup Exec 2012 product a few moths a go and we are adapting our backups according to product. We noticed that the program can not handle the restore of an sql database to an alternate server which consists of more than one data file . You can only define a path for all of the datafiles and program restores all of the datafiles to that location. But before this product we were using sql agent for backup and restore operation and while you restore  a *:bak ...
