Even though the enterprise is going little slower than desktop distributions, upcoming versions of currently supported distributions will also start shipping kernels based on > 3.0. A behaviour of ioctl() has changed and RALUS 14.0.798SP1 fails to start with a segfault. Debian wheezy (Linux 3.2) and RHEL 7 (as it is based on Fedora 18) will also be using Kernels > 3.0. While Ubuntu was supported until 11.10, the current LTS release has remained unsupported until now. (Actually Linux ...

I have developed a basic VSS Writer to support backing up of our application (an integrated accounting system) which uses our own bespoke database solution rather than a standard database solution such as SQL or Oracle. That VSS Writer works fine with other backup solutions we employ (e.g. Windows Server Backup) but not Backup Exec (it also works fine with Backup Exec System Recovery). I have been working with your support staff under case 03631527 to establish the reason why ...

It would be nice if Backup Exec could have an option added to allow a bespoke command to be run after the VSS snapshot has been taken. Because Backup Exec doesn't currently support our VSS Writer, we have to use the Pre-backup command to take our application offline and the Post-backup command to put it back online again. The application only needs to be offline while the snapshot is taken, so it is currently unnecessarily offline for hours while the backup is taken.

The possibility to assign a user to a computer

Hi. I think it'd be helpfull to have the possibility to assign a user to only selected PC(s). The ability of backing up user's data from any PC to which he/she logs on and also to synchronize it is a very nice feature of DLO, but when you have many PCs and only few users need this functionality but the others, like administrators, who log on to not their own PCs don't, it creates in the console a real mess (hundreds of PC backups for one user). Having possibility to choose ...

Backup Exec 2012 Name Manual Duplicate

I would like to suggest adding allowing the BE administrator the ability to name  a manual duplicate job in Backup Exec 2012.    This would be very helpful. Instead of having a generic name such as Duplicate Backup Sets xxxxx, it would be helpful to name the job so that at a glance a few days later one can quickly see the manual job by what ever naming convention used.   Thank you

NBU should now be more intelligent to recongnize case-insenstive for hostnames and fqdns .  It really annoys when we see same name in UPPER and lower under clients tab. More over list of clients does not appear under BAR gui (have to remember what did we put while creating policy (UPPER/lower hostname/fqdn) If client already existing within any policy, it should show faded when we type it manually add clients. SO we get to know it is already added and same we have to select, rather then ...

I have been working with support for over a month over an issue of getting my catalog and vault SLP jobs prioritization over other jobs like duplications. It has been suggsted that we dedicated a one tape library drive decated just to those POLICIES/SLP/JOBS. We have a 2 drive tape library and sometime we have duplications that run into the daytime hours. This is a rare ocasion and to dedicate one of our tape drive just for 2 jobs does not make sensese and would only slow dow our duplication ...

It would be great if NBU can fetch size property value for databases (SQL/EXCHANGE etc) So while making backup selection for large databases admins are aware of how much they can size their tape media allocations Also it would be great if when jobs kicks in... It shows data size somewhere above in between throughput rate or so. in following units (KB/MB/GB/TB) units can be set in drop down to change values accordingly..
