Hi,

Is there any way that a new feature can be investigated for the forums.

If there is a query with multiple posts, and sometimes spanning more than 1 page, you're not able to jump to the latest post. This means running through everything and manually navigating to what you want.

I've included a link below as an example...try finding the latest post in this:

Thanks!

This idea makes a lot of sense Craig.

Let me run it past the devs and see what they can come up with.

Upvoted but extended to allow navigation by date. phpBB tracks which thread you've visited and when you come back, the "first unread" works well. Except phpBB doesn't have threads so you know that the next post in the topic is right underneath. Add threads into the mix and this simple solution doesn't work.

So the extended wish is:

  1. Each time I open a thread, save (in my profile) the highest message number
  2. When I re-open the thead, a button/link to take me to the next message
  3. NEW: additional buttons per message to navigate backwards and forwards by message number/date

I accept that it means one might jump around the discussion but it's better than the current method of having to read the entire thread each time. If you could intelligently traverse the tree each time I click "Next" then even better.

Also link in with "Better navigation of new posts to the discussion" is the message I've just posted saying that the link you receive in an email to new posts doesn't work if the discussion goes over two or more pages. That is a right pain ;-)

Cheers, Rob.
