How to get rid of start up delay?
Created: 26 Avr. 2011 | 8 comments
We have a new application called Siemens OpenScape Contact Center (http://www.siemens-enterprise.com/us/products/contact-center-solutions/openscape-contact-center.aspx) which suffers from a huge start up delay (the Manager component only) when at least one layer in SVS (SWV as well) is active. It doesn't matter if the application itself is virtualized or not. As soon as all layers are deactivated, starting the Manager takes only a few seconds. As soon as at least one layer is active (it doesn't matter which layer), starting the Manager takes up to 6 minutes!
How can we troubleshoot this?
Thanks in advance
Regards
Roland

What appens if you check off the
Hide from other Layers
and
Hide other layers from this layer?
Do you see a diffrence when launching the app?
Thanks
Rene
Hi Rene
Thanks for your input. Unfortunately, it makes no difference in launching the app whether I hide the layer from other layers and other layers from this layer or not.
Any other ideas?

Roland
Have you "checked" with process monitor for clues?
This is a hard thing to debug and AngelD has the correct idea, you'll need to do a procmon and look where the most time is being spent--it'll be in the registry if the slowdown is caused by SWV as that's where our "pain points" are so to speak.
Let me know what you find out or if you need some help.

Hey guys
Thank you for the hint. A long time I didn't check this thread. However, I'm going to try this and will update as soon as there is some more information.
Have a nice weekend everyone

I came across this one today, maybe it could help in some way
Trace Windows 7 boot/shutdown/hibernate/standby/resume issues
(you would be interessting in the "For boot tracing" command)
We've found out, that the application reads and writes thousands (!) of keys at startup. After we excluded the executable in SVS the performance returned to 'normal' :)
You may close this thread.
Thank you all for your help

Ya, that can cause a slowdown.
