i am dealing with RMAN restore to alternate client.

version 7.1, client os = Red hat Linux

we have done many of these restores in the past but with current restore i am running into an odd problem

bpbrm process in detail activity job logs reports restore has completed sucessfully with status 0 and after that it hangs for ever and never completes that paticular restore job.

Any Idea what could be casuing or how to troubleshoot this..

Are there any uncompleted(not in Done state) jobs In activity monitor?
If all the jobs for resore are in done state, this issue must occur in Oracle RMAN side. Please check RNAN out put and any other relative Oracle logs/traces.

How large you DB is? If DB size is large and allocated blocks for data is small, it is usual that time for restore/recover operation in Oracle takes too long although all restore jobs in NetBackup completed.

In addition to above excellent post:

logs (other than RMAN logs) needed for troubleshooting:

on master: bprd
on media server: bptm and bpbrm
on client: dbclient and the user_ops logs.
