Sounds like a bug!

Do you get any error messages or error logs?

I am experiencing this same issue.  I am running Deployment Solution on a Windows Server 2008 R2 box.

I just upgraded this box from DS 6.9SP3 to SP4, and now can no longer edit the configuration for my boot images.  The option in the menu is disabled "greyed out".

Has anyone heard from Symantec if this is an official known bug in DS 6.9 SP4?

After upgrading to SP4 I can't delete my winpe in PXE.
The DS does not recognixze any new computers to the database.
Imaging hangs at booting to Automation.

Anyone getting these too?

Hi All

I have found the solution with help from Symantec support. When you try to edit a boot image with right klick - you should use the back button, it is called Edit.

Kind Regds

I was pulling my hair out over this today!  Right in front of my eyes the whole time, and didn't bother clicking it.

The disabled "Edit" right click menu item is a bug that Altiris Support is aware of.  it was not known at the time the product was released, but has been reported by customers, and is in their development queue.  The solution to the issue, is to use the "Edit" button clearly visible in the Wizard, as the last responder indicated.

I had a little of all of these symptoms and my server was just working really flakey I have to image my new systems for a refresh so I decided to reinstall the DS SP4 it installed just wonderfully the second time. The first time it took forever to complete and I really never got the screen saying it was done after 4 hours it was at 100% so I rebooted and it appeared to be on the correct version. It kept doing strange things images would not complete the PXE would lock up etc.. after rebooting the PXE menu even got lost and gave me a bunch of blank options. So I just disconnected the consoles and took the server back down reinstalled the DS6.9 sp4 and it seems to have corrected all of my woes. Until I tried to image a Dell 780 the boot menu does not showup on these crazy systems it works for other systems but not the Dell 780. I just downloaded a new driver and I'm gonna try it using winPE instead of DOS.

I think you posted to the wrong message thread.  This thread is about the right-click Edit menu item being disabled.

Jeanne, I had several problems like you with DS6.9 SP4.  Had to reinstall and they cleared up .

The Dell Opti 780 problem is your bios. Dell has no upgrade as of last week I checked.

I am experiencing a problem similar to this problem.

The problem i am experiencing is that i cannot edit my bootimage, it simply tells me that the pre-boot environment isn't installed.
This is installed on windows 2008 R2, and i installed the pre-boot with installing my Altiris.

My winpe is created so this is not going to be a problem before i need to add NIC drivers.
