Symantec Scan Engine 5.2 - AV definitions - Unbale to Update
Hi,
I've installed Symantec Scan Engine 5.2 as part of Symantec AntiVirus for SharePoint on seperate server. i've register my SP server with the scan engine but
my problem is that the date of AV definition is old (03/2008). on System tab, LiveUpdate Content tab I see the following info:
AV Definitions 05/03/2008 20080305.024 19:19:03 IDT 01/07/2009 LiveUpdate In Progress
URL Content 29/11/2007 20071129.047 19:23:17 IDT 01/07/2009 LiveUpdate In Progress
DDR Definitions 04/12/2006 20061204.034 19:21:10 IDT 01/07/2009 LiveUpdate In Progress
and after few minutes\seconds:
AV Definitions 05/03/2008 20080305.024 20:54:49 IDT 01/07/2009 Unable To Update
URL Content 29/11/2007 20071129.047 20:06:47 IDT 01/07/2009 Unable To Update
DDR Definitions 04/12/2006 20061204.034 20:04:40 IDT 01/07/2009 Unable To Update
any suggestion how to get Liveupdate work?
Thanks in Advance.

Are you using Proxy server if yes then follow this
You can edit liveupdate.conf and add the following lines to the bottom of the file (each on their own line)
proxy=<IP of proxy server>:<port of proxy server>
proxyusername=<username>
proxypassword=<password>
At proxy= type the proxy server host name or IP address and the port number (separated by a colon).
You must use the following format: <servername>:<portnumber>
where <servername> is the IP address or host name of the proxy server, and <portnumber> is the appropriate port.
NOTE: The proxyusername and proxypassword are optional. If you do not need to specify a user name and password then do not add those lines.

The most helpful part of entire Symantec connect is the Search button..do use it.
Are u getting any error at the time of updating the defs???? IF not check the Error Support in Enhaced or not in the liveupdate settings in Control panel

Correct search string to the file is c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\Java LiveUpdate\
Make sure that you stop the service before you change the file.
