A constant source of annoyance is opening the VCS Java console, dragging the cluster browser over to the second monitor to view the status of the nodes. Then you right click on that resource that needs to be probed and the pop-up menu opens on the other monitor! Is there a way to update the console to be multi-screen/monitor aware?

Forcing consistency of solaris zone configuration

The consistency of /etc/zones/<zone>.xml and /etc/zones/index configuration files should be forced by VCS to guarantee that a failover/switch of a servicegroup containing a zone works. currently, the failover node may have wrong or missing data and won't be able to start the zone. We need a mechanism for synchronizing the xml files betwenn the nodes - at best as an transaction, maybe even over GAB like the cluster configuration itself. This is required to ensure failover in certain ...

In my practice most DR/HA solutions failed because of node's inconsistent configuration. Everybody knows that application and server management before clustering and after really differs. After clustering both application and server management should be correlated with the Cluster. When you do something at one node, you also should do the same thing at the whole nodes of this cluster. For example when you add user to one node, you should add the same user at all other cluster nodes. ...

“I have observed many times that people have difficulty in finding out the supportability for any product. ...”
I have observed many times that people have difficulty in finding out the supportability for any product. If we need proper information, we need to reach out the release notes of specific product because at this point supportability is listed per OS & not per product. This becomes more diffcult for new products which are supported on virutalization technologies like vmware, vSphere, Xen etc.. Is it possible to have a product based support matrix ? For e.g If I want to see support for ...

Hi, I feel that most of users are not confident on VVR setup and dont find confortable with commands. That results in many support cases for small things. It will be great if a menu driven script is designed just like vxdiskadm in vxvm. A script which can help users to manage RVG, RLINK, SRL, DCM, primary-secondary role migration, add/remove data volumes etc. Thank you Regards, ~Anoop

Preonline and PostOnline are the most common used triggers. I know triggers exists to call preonline scripts etc..but it would be very handy if VCS resource group has an attribute to call external scripts just like triggers This doesnt mean we should take out the trigger capability associated with resource group state changes..they can continue to exist But add new attribute associated with resource group or even resource to call external script  as preonline and postonline for eg new ...

Hello VCS developers..... I have more than 200 clusters in my environment, starting from a basic 2 node cluster to 16 node cluster...... Very often we see common messages in engine_A.log by agents saying "monitor procedure not completed within expected time" Now we all know, very common cause to this "server resources busy" thus agents not getting sufficient resources to complete the monitor cycle, this implies to most of the VCS agents. If it fails for more than 4 times ...
