Job Title: Workstation Engineer
Biography:

I started using the Altiris products in 2004 when I joined my current team. My first task was to implement Recovery Solution 6.0. In 2005 my team led a project to implement an Enterprise systems-management tool. After reviewing 8 RFP responses, in the end we went with Altiris. I was primarily responsible for documenting and deploying our global Altiris NS environment globally.

Shortly after we implemented I discovered the Altiris Support Forums and like many of my co-Advisors here eventually found myself answering more questions than I asked. I found the Forum to be an extremely valuable learning resource; what better way to learn that troubleshooting real-life customer problems? I was then invited to become one of the Altiris Forum Advisors (the precursor from the Altiris side at least to the Trusted Advisors) and joined the ranks (and by rank, I do mean you Jim!).

In my daily job at a Fortune 250 company, I have extensive experience with Inventory solution, Software Delivery, Patch Management, Application Metering, Recovery Solution, Local Security Solution, general Notification Server management, NS reports/collection creation and a bit of basic DS usage (all in the 6.x releases). I'm scaling up my skills in Workflow and am excited about the potential of that tool.

I live in a suburb of of St. Louis, MO with my wife and two children.

Hello all, I'm sure one of you has already solved this...but I'm stuck.  We used "Custom Severity" extensively in 6.x to filter out non-required updates (Timzone fixes, Junk Email, misc Hotfixes) so as to not skew our compliance numbers.  While Custom ...
